The Ray & Sheldon Club was founded many years ago by District Nurses (remember those ?!?!) Sister Ray & Sister Sheldon in conjunction with Jose Lindsay, Dr Keith & Honor Robson and 'K' & Edward Karslake.

I was privileged to drive people from Foul Mile, borrowing Edward Karslake's (Dad's !) car, for the very first Meeting. One delightful lady of 84, Miss Robinson, was particularly excited. 'It'll be just like the war !' she told me. 'I'll see all my old friends again !'

The Club still provides entertainment, tea and a chance to meet with friends to elderly parishioners of Herstmonceux. I understand numbers are a tad depleted at the moment. It would welcome new members with open arms.
