This was the first year I 'found' the London to Brighton Rally. It was bitterly cold and I spent a long time driving the route of the motors without finding anywhere to park. So many people were obviously there for a great day out with gazebos, picnics, chairs and even tables, the roadside verges were packed

In the end I found a layby where there was still space and I could see the veteran cars coming down the slip-road onto the A23
